Celexa
Scientists have proved that depression and accompanying conditions are connected with decreased amount of serotonin released from nerve cells in the brain. Celexa, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, works by boosting serotonin level in the brain, thus elevating mood and relieving depression symptoms. It is also used to treat eating disorders (e.g., bulimia, anorexia) and various mental disorders (e.g., obsessive-compulsive and panic disorders).
Celexa is available in tablets and oral liquid. Consult your doctor about taking Celexa, as there are some conditions the medication should not be taken with, and the dose should be adjusted. Alcohol should be avoided, as it induces side effects. Celexa can affect reactions and thinking ability, so it is better to abstain from driving and alike activities during treatment. Some people taking antidepressants may experience depression worsening up to suicidal thoughts and attempts. Celexa is not approved for depression treatment in children and teens.
